Uma Thurman
I admit it! I'm in love with Uma Thurman! But
then, I am red blooded and I am male, so it goes without saying...
In my humble opinion, she is the most attractive actress on
the big screen today. It is not just her looks, it is the
personality that radiates, not just through her perfect skin,
but through the screen of the cinema or TV. Uma Thurman is
a light, a beautiful light that illuminates the world...
Now to her acting... ;-) Uma Thurman's real
breakthrough came when she was cast as Cecile de Volanges
in Dangerous Liaisons. Both, Glenn Close and Michelle Pfeiffer
earned Oscar nominations for their performances, but Thurman
drew attention for her topless scene in the film. Insecure
about her appearance, the young Uma Thurman fled to London
for almost a year and dressed in baggy clothing to hide, what
she considered, her awkward figure. After deserved acclaim
for her starring role in Harry And June, Uma Thurman made
a couple of films including Robin Hood where she played Maid
Marion, but, in my opinion, it was her role in Jennifer 8,
where she starred as a blind student beside Andy Garcia's
flawed detective where Uma Thurman began to really stretch
and exercise her undoubted talent. It was whilst watching
that I found myself thinking, 'This girl is a seriously good
actress,' and that thought was emphatically confirmed when
Quentin Tarantino cast Uma Thurman as Mia Wallace in the great
classic Pulp Fiction. The scene where John Travolta stabs
a needle into her heart and Uma Thurman's Mia is brought abruptly
back to life is one of those great cinematic moments...
Uma Thurman has gone on to make great film after
great film, movies that include: Les Misérables, Batman
& Robin, where Uma plays Poision Ivy, and Paycheck with
Ben Affleck. Then Uma Thurman answered the call from her friend
Quentin Tarantino and made Kill Bill volumes I & II, two
films that make a whole, yet individually are great classics.
Uma Thurman is simply outstanding as The Bride, Beatrix Kiddo,
and has entered cinema history as an extraordinary, beautiful,
actress of sublime talent...
