Marilyn Monroe
In another publication I wrote about how Elvis
Presley was sodden, drenched, dripping charisma. Well I could
write the same lines for Marilyn Monroe, only she didn't drip,
she gushed sex appeal. But we must not lessen her talent as
an actress and put her success down solely to her physical
looks. Marilyn Monroe was a very fine actress indeed with
a wide range of exceptional talent. Look at her perfect comedic
timing in Some Like It Hot and her poignant sense for drama
in The Misfits.
Marilyn Monroe has made some true classics such
as Some Like It Hot, The Misfits, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
and The Seven Year Itch, and would have made many more had
she not died so tragically young... And the world continues
to mourn her...
Yet, she was tormented. Why are so many beautiful, talented people so unhappy in their personal lives? Could it be because we, as a society place too much pressure on their young shoulders? We celebrate their appearance and if the individual feels less than deserving they tend to begin a process of hiding what they consider faults and the pressure mounts as they become increasingly desperate to hide more and more as life begins to take its toll. As a society we need to be careful not to place too much pressure on talented individual's as they grow in the full glare of the media spotlight into fully fledged superstars... Not easy, though, as were it not for the glaring spotlight they wouldn't achieve the fame necessary to win and enjoy the opportunity...
