Denzel Washington
A Great Actor of many Hollywood Movies.
Denzel Washington
Denzel Washington is in heavy competition with
Samuel L Jackson for the title "coolest man in Hollywood"
and I am a huge fan of both actors. Whilst, it could be argued,
Samuel L Jackson's career was founded upon playing bad men
- I'm thinking about his roles in Tarantino films here! His
brilliant portrayal of the negotiator in The Negotiator where he en ds up being the good guy mustn't
be overlooked - Denzel Washington has built his brilliant
career portraying good men, well, good is an understatement
as his portrayal of Steve Biko shows the man who stood up
to apartheid as one of history's truly great men as is, of
course, Malcolm X another true character Washington brought
to life on the screen. Cry Freedom and Malcolm X are not just
Hollywood movies, they are an education about two men who
would certainly be on my list of the finest men to have ever
lived. But how does an actor follow up such significant and
powerful roles? Well, The Pelican Brief for me stands out
as a Hollywood classic and although Gray Grantham, the journalist
superbly portrayed by Denzel Washington, is a fictional character,
Denzel imbues Gray with the same moral fibre with which he
brought Steve Biko and Malcolm X to life. The Pelican Brief
is a superb story, penned by John Grisham, but is the sublime
chemistry between Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington that
left a powerful taste in my mouth. Later came roles in the
excellent Bone Collector where Denzel starred with Angelina
Jolie and the surprisingly good Out Of Time, a film I really
enjoyed as great entertainment. I could go on naming films
that boast a brilliant performance by Denzel Washington, such
as Inside Man, where Denzel shone beside the extraordinary
Jodie Foster.

Raw Nerve
The novel they considered too controversial!
The black Governor of Georgia, Janice Mathias, is the leading contender in the race for the White House! The Ku Klux Klan plot an assination and much, much worse!
Gideon is the man who makes the difference when he tears the dark veil from the face of white supremacy!
The novel by Tim Rees, Raw Nerve, is now available on Kindle.
Recommended reading for everyone who loves a great thriller!
For a little over $5, which is £3 something, Raw Nerve is a serious page turner! |

The Hollywood Movie History
The greats of the silent movie period included
Rudolf Valentino, Mary Pickford, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton,
Laurel & Hardy and a whole host of stars whose talents live
on in the many characters they portrayed. Jean Harlow is perhaps
the most successful of the stars who began their career in the
silent era and whose star continued in ascendancy into the talkies.
The western film genre has been the birth place for many great
film stars, not least of which is the Great John Wayne. Blockbuster
movies dominated the 80's and 90's with Silvester Stallone,
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis competing for the title
greatest action hero of them all... and then Matt Damon brought
Ludlum's character Jason Bourne to life all too vividly and
a whole new action hero was born.
And, although great women's roles are still all to rare, Vivien
Leigh's Scarlet O'Hara in Gone With The Wind, Marilyn Monroe's
Sugar Kane in Some Like It Hot, Grace Kelly as Tracy Lord in
High Society, Michelle Pfeifer in the Baker Boys and Julie Roberts
in Erin Brockovich are just a few great and memorable perfomances
I have experience by women in the movies...
